Anirban Das did graduation in Medicine (MBBS) and shifted to a broad interdisciplinary field across the Sciences, the Humanities and the Social Sciences. He did an MA in History, a Research Training Program at the CSSSC, a one-year ‘History of Sciences’ course at the Asiatic Society, Kolkata and a PhD in Philosophy.
He has been a Research Associate in the History of Sciences at the Indian National Science Academy and Visiting Fellow at the School of Women’s Studies, Jadavpur University, IISC Bangalore and Political Science department, Delhi University.
He has published in English and Bangla in journals and edited volumes. The first English monograph was published in November 2010 from the Anthem Press (Indian edition, November 2012). He has edited with an introduction a Bangla anthology of essays on deconstruction. Currently, he has two books under consideration, on feminist theory and ethics. Areas of interest include feminist theory, science studies, the literary and the vernacular, postcolonial theory, body studies and ‘theory’ in a broad sense.
One RTP student, nineteen MPhil students and two PhD students have completed dissertations with his supervision. Currently, he is supervising three MPhil, eight PhD (two submitted, awaiting viva), and one postdoctoral dissertations.
